People don’t want change. They want a better life.

Your Company's Operating System.

Your agents never clock out. Work that used to take forty hours of human effort now takes a few minutes, done before your team sits down. Your data lives in one database, your team works in one place, and you own every line of it. We build it, then stay to make it better every week.

Deep systems, not plywood. You work with senior principals: operators who have built companies of their own and write the code themselves.

The average business runs on a dozen tools, each holding a piece of the truth. People become the glue: copying between systems, remembering where things live, rebuilding the same report every Monday. Another tool only adds another piece. What fixes it is architecture: a stack chosen on purpose, all the data in one place, and everything built on top of it reinforcing everything else.

Your team starts every day in one place. Orders, customers, conversations, documents: one system, one answer to any question, and the overnight work already done by agents before anyone sits down.

A Medical Practice, Rebuilt.

A direct-pay medical practice came to us running on spreadsheets and a tangle of automations only a few people understood.

We moved that work into code the practice owns and put its data into one database, while the staff kept working without a pause. On top of it we built the tools they open every morning: apps for the front desk, providers, nurses and coaches, and one inbox for texts and email.

Agents now do the overnight work: drafting visit notes for the provider to sign off, and filing what comes in so it lands where it belongs.

We Teach Nurses to Code.

We upskill your whole team. At a medical practice we work with, the staff now ship their own changes to the software they use every day. We review every one, fix what needs fixing, and merge it. Every change is explained in plain English so the whole team learns from it.

Your people know the work better than any engineer. Once they can shape their own tools, the system improves from the inside, and your team keeps the skills.

How We Build It.

Four layers, always in this order. Each one runs on the one beneath it: an agent is only as good as the data it reads, and the data is only as good as the decisions about where it lives, and how it gets updated.

Layer 1 Architecture

Sometimes it makes sense to build you a custom CRM; sometimes the right call is buying a best-in-class system off the shelf. What we won't do is assemble a frankenstack: tools that each win their category, stitched together by your team in random spreadsheets. Step one is deciding, on purpose, which tools own which domain.

Layer 2 Memory

Everything flows into one Postgres database: your store, your CRM, your inventory, your knowledge base. The dovetail joints between them are the point: one interlocking source of truth.

Layer 3 Agents & Automations

Digital employees live in one codebase — yours — not scattered across three platforms where nobody knows where to look when one breaks. The tools to build them have never been cheaper. What you're paying for is judgment: we decide what's worth building, review every line, ship it live, and keep it running.

Layer 4 Interface

Data is useless until it turns into decisions and great customer experiences. Dashboards, reports, and polished sales tools that used to cost a million dollars and a month of meetings now ship in days. And they'll be beautiful: our DNA is commercial filmmaking, and in an age where anyone can build, emotional design is what stands out.

Your OS Gets Updates.

It's not what you can build, it's what you can maintain. One flat retainer, one weekly cadence, one active project at a time.

Coach, not doctor.

We are not the doctor who prescribes and disappears. We are the health coach in the gym with you every week, making your team the strongest, fittest version of itself.

No finished state.

Plenty of beautiful buildings rot from neglect. There is no finished state: everything gets improved, calibrated, and upgraded with the latest frontier models.

Operators first.

We come from operations: inventory, people, production, not just software. The job is solving business problems with logic, communicating clearly, and iterating on what reality tells us.

Home turf.

Our deepest experience is in healthcare, construction, manufacturing, hospitality, and technology. The method works in any industry; those are the ones we know from the inside.

You own everything.

Data, code, and credentials are yours: portable, transferred anywhere you want, never locked to us. We just manage them for you.

The Work.

We aren't here to sell you software; we are here to make companies AI native.

The stakes are bigger than any one business. US productivity grew nearly 3% a year through the postwar decades; since 2010 it has slowed to about 1%, despite money being cheaper than ever. Our mission is to help push it back to 2% a year, with a population that isn't growing.

Dovetail is run by its founder and a small bench of senior engineers, from Barcelona to Honolulu. Nothing gets handed to juniors.

Donovan Greene spent a decade directing commercials, then crossed over to operations: co-designing and co-founding Rosetta Hall in Boulder and running it from permitting and construction through daily service with a staff of 100. He has been the customer for bad software: the operator juggling a dozen tools that don't talk to each other.

Since 2023 he has solved business problems with data: unifying scattered systems into one database, then building the automations and agents that run on top of it. Those systems are in production today at healthcare, construction, and hospitality companies, doing real work every night. In 2026 he launched Dovetail.City, a nonprofit think tank on housing and urbanism: short film essays on hero projects, a public record of what works, and planning law translated into plain English, all to close the gap between what we know works and what actually gets built. He has lived and worked in the US, Spain, China, the Netherlands, and Japan.

Most consultants who talk about AI have never run a business. Most operators don't write code. Most engineers can't make things beautiful. Dovetail exists because your company deserves all three.
